Calgary’s fitness game is next level - there is no excuse to not get sweaty with so many options around the city. It doesn’t matter what type of workout you are looking for, YYC is bursting with active spaces promoting a healthy lifestyle and building a supportive community. The people behind the fitness community have built an empire of sweat, making Calgary a leader in the industry. We rely on the fitness studios around town to get us off the couch and burn off yesterday’s pizza and tacos. The motivation, inspiration, and passion that these studios represent have elevated Calgary’s fitness community and has forced the fitness trend to become a lifestyle.

Not only do you get a good workout in, you can meet amazing Calgarians to bond with while you’re trying to catch your breath. There is an overflow of kick ass studios to choose from, and Calgary voted for their favourite.

Winner: Barre Body Studio

If you’re looking for a major leg burn, Barre Body is the place to go. They have two locations in Calgary and one in Edmonton, and they are bringing us the best of the best when it comes to barre. Since 2013, Barre Body has been toning this city’s legs and glutes while building a community of fit advocates for healthy living. The ballet-inspired workout and motivating atmosphere at Barre Body have made it a favourite place to workout for Calgarians.

Runner Up One: YYC Cycle Spin Studio

The spin studio prides itself on the Bikergang community it has created while providing Calgary with a fun and supportive space to workout in. With three studios in Calgary (and almost two in Edmonton under YEG Cycle), YYC Cycle has found their groove in the fitness community. It’s one of Calgarians favourite spots to work out for good reason, it’s a killer cardio workout and it’s a great spot to surround yourself with supportive, like-minded people.

Runner Up Two: Legacy Boxing Club

The elite boxing school in South Calgary, locals have been drawn to the killer workout and the supportive group of people. Whether you are a newbie boxer and want to learn the basics or a veteran fighter, Legacy has your workout covered. The club has been open since 2010 and it’s built a reputation for itself for being an outstanding training facility, an awesome workout for all abilities and a motivating space.

I’m a native Calgarian with a passionate obsession with our city. I spend my time finding the best tacos, donuts and lattes YYC has to offer. My love of food holds hands with my love for all things fitness; spin, lifting, boxing, hot yoga, snowboarding, hiking – I love it all. When I’m not doing it for the ‘gram or creating content for my blog, I’m working as an account manager for marketing firm, the content manager for DateNight, and freelance writing.
